It’s time to take a look at the standout performers from Section V.
Your vote will determine who will be the Faber Builders Girls Sports Athlete of the Week for March 23-29. The players’ credentials are listed above the poll — which will be live until 8 p.m. Wednesday. The winner will be announced on our Instagram page Thursday morning.
The nominees are chosen by our sports reporters. If you would like to call attention to an athlete’s performance to be considered for the nomination, please email sports@democratandchronicle.com by 7 p.m. each Sunday. All athletes who play on Section V girls teams are eligible to be nominated.

Grace Beach
Cal-Mum softball pitcher tossed five shutout inning, struck out five and allowed only two hits in a win against York/Pavilion. Beach also finished 3 for 4 with two RBIs.
Kendall Buttles
Rush-Henrietta softball pitcher threw a complete game, struck out 11 and allowed three hits against in a 2-1 win against Churchville-Chili.
Bailey Cooper
Penn Yan girls lacrosse player picked up five goals, three assists and 18 draw controls in a win against Corning.
Emma Johnson
Eastridge softball player finished 2 for 2 with two RBIs, including the walk-off single, in the Lancers’ 5-4 win against HFL on Wednesday.
Molly McJury
Brockport girls lacrosse sophomore scored six of her team’s 11 goals in a win against Wayne. McJury also had a team-high four ground balls.
Lucy Whipple
Irondequoit girls lacrosse sophomore scored with a minute remaining as the Eagles defeated Fairport. That was her third goal of the game.
Maddie Whitford
Livonia-Avon-Geneseo girls lacrosse player totaled 10 goals across two games, both wins, to open the season.
