Connor Caffey knew he had to make a change. Even his doctor told him he should consider getting gastric sleeve surgery.
The procurement manager from West Babylon, N.Y., now 33, tells PEOPLE that he’d always been on the bigger side, but his weight climbed to 450 lbs. during COVID.
When he finally saw a doctor in 2022, he was told, “obviously my weight was problematic and if it wasn’t addressed soon, it could become fatal.”
While Caffey told his doctor he was “glad that I’m a candidate for it,” he wasn’t ready to take action. “Let’s put it on the back burner. Give me another year. If I can’t do it myself in a year, I’ll come back and we’ll do it,
