▪ Sturgis West junior Cecilia O’Connor surpassed 500 career saves while making 14 in a 3-2 loss to Martha’s Vineyard. O’Connor, who stopped 82 percent of the shots she faced, finished the game with 506 career saves. She has a career 63 percent save percentage as a three-year starter.
Ben Cleary, BC High — The junior, who already was the fastest in program history to reach 500 kills, kept adding to his total with 26 in a 3-1 boys’ volleyball win over North Quincy.
Andrew DeGirolamo, Mansfield — The senior erupted for 8 points, tallying six goals and two assists in a 20-6 boys’ lacrosse win over Nauset.
Julia Kipperman, Nauset — The senior Merrimack commit wasted no time reminding everyone of her goal-scoring prowess by deliver nine tallies in a 19-2 girls’ lacrosse rout of Sturgis East.
Cece Levrault, Apponequet — Fresh off leading the Lakers’ girls’ basketball team to the state semifinals, the senior opened lacrosse season with six goals in a 20-3 drubbing of Middleborough.
Sebastien Masse, Central Catholic — The junior dominated the net with 15 kills and six blocks in a 3-2 boys’ volleyball win over Lowell Catholic.
Rawen Perez, Roxbury Prep — One of three senior pitchers who opened with dominant peformances, Perez tossed a one-hitter to lead Roxbury Prep to a 16-1 win over Excel Academy.
Liam Powers, Mystic Valley — The senior produced one of two 11-strikeout performances on Opening Day, allowing just two hits while collecting two of his own in an 11-1 win over Boston Collegiate.
Lacey Roche, West Bridgewater — Just an eighth-grader, she paced a 12-9 win over Bristol Aggie with a home run, four runs scored, and three RBIs.
Ryan Solimini, Abington — The senior opened his final high school season with 11 strikeouts while tossing 5⅔ one-hit, scoreless innings to beat Cardinal Spellman 6-0.
Avery Valicenti, Archbishop Williams — There was little stopping the senior in an eight-goal, two-assist performance to beat North Quincy, 16-8.

▪ Lowell went with one of its best to helm its football program.
The Red Raiders announced the promotion of Joseph Harris to head football coach after Scott Boyle departed after his second stint leading Lowell. Harris was a 2007 Red Raiders graduate who was recently inducted into the school’s athletic Hall of Fame.
After totaling more than 225 tackles as a linebacker at Rhode Island, Harris has spent a decade as an assistant at Lowell acrosse four head coaches. He also has experience as an assistant at Fitchburg State.
“Known for coaching with intense passion and heart, Harris has earned incredible support from both current players and the alumni community,” read an unattributed statement from the school. “He is a leader who ‘leads from the front,’ never backing down from difficult work and consistently holding his players to a high level of accountability.”
The Red Raiders are coming off a 9-2 season that ended in the Division 1 quarterfinals.
▪ After helping Davies Tech in Lincoln, R.I., win its first state championship in 2024, Chuck Allaire will return to the Massachusetts sidelines as head coach at Monomoy.
The former Greater New Bedford coach has also served as head coach of the Johnson & Wales club team and as an assistant at Mt. Hope (R.I.).
A math teacher, Allaire coached GNB for 11 years, stepping down in 2018 with a 52-72 record, three consecutive state vocational titles, and one conference crown.
Monomoy, a co-op with St. John Paul II starting last fall, went 1-9 in 2025 under fourth-year coach Rob Sliney, who coached the Sharks to their last winning season in 2022 (7-4).
▪ Northbridge announced that Colby Brochu will return to coaching its girls’ lacrosse program after serving as head coach of the boys’ team. A middle school behavioral tech and assistant football coach, Brochu was a three-year starter for the Rams and went on to play at Worcester State.
▪ Malden Catholic senior Duke Chery, a 5-foot-9-inch, 160-pound point guard has committed to play men’s basketball at Curry.
▪ Catholic Memorial junior Charlie Todd, a 6-foot-4-inch, 220-pound tight end, announced he will be transferring to BB&N and reclassifying to 2028.
▪ Mansfield senior Gabe McIntyre, a 6-1 shooting guard, announced he has committed to play basketball at UMass Boston.
▪ Cohasset football star Gus Greene decommitted from Gettysburg, where he planned to play lacrosse, and has instead opted to spend a post-grad year at Deerfield Academy, where he plans to play football and lacrosse. The 6-1, 215-pound running back set a Cohasset record with 28 touchdowns, rushing for 2,059 yards as a senior to win a Division 7 Super Bowl and earn Globe Player of the Year honors.
▪ Bowdoin sophomore guard Ray Cuevas, a Pingree graduate from Ipswich, is transferring to Brown after averaging 22.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 45 percent on 3-pointers.
▪ Several other college hoopers from Massachusetts entered the portal: Albany sophomore Amir Lindsey, Western Carolina freshman Tahlan Pettway, Seton Hall freshman Natalia Hall-Rosa, and Notre Dame freshman Ryder Frost.
Lindsey, a Rivers graduate from Framingham, averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 4.9 assists while shooting 34.9 percent from deep and 44.7 percent overall for Albany.
Pettway, a St. Thomas More graduate who previously played at Worcester North, averaged 8.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 21.9 minutes per game while hitting 39.4 percent of his 3-point attempts.
Frost, a 6-foot-7-inch Beverly graduate, averaged 2.7 points in 6.2 minutes per game for the Fighting Irish. Hall-Rosa, a Rivers graduate from Randolph who played at Bridgewater-Raynham, put up 2.6 points and 1.2 rebounds in 9.5 minutes per game.
