Out-of-state group acquires 10 Planet Fitness centers in Michigan

Ohana Growth Partners announced Wednesday, Sept. 24, that it has acquired 10 West Michigan Planet Fitness clubs from franchise group JP Fitness.
The acquisition also includes one location in Rice Lake, Wis., that is expected to open by the end of the year.
“Ohana has always been ambitious about growth, thoroughly assessing opportunities to expand in our existing markets and enter new markets to grow the brand, create access to fitness and operate clubs that help change people’s lives,” OGP President Justin Drummond said in a statement. “This acquisition is aligned with our strategic growth goals, and we look forward to joining the Michigan and Wisconsin communities.”
The Michigan locations included in the acquisition are:
4235 Alpine Ave. NW, Comstock Park
721 68th St. SW, Byron Center
1305 S. Beacon Blvd., Grand Haven
2807 Lake Michigan Drive NW, Grand Rapids
4180 Plainfield Ave. NE, Grand Rapids
300 S. Greenville West Drive., Greenville
12330 James St., Holland
661 E. 24th St., Holland
1520 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon
2520 Henry St., Muskegon
OHP in a release said members of these locations can continue to expect the same high-value and judgement-free experience.
“We are in great hands turning these clubs over to Ohana Growth Partners,” JP Fitness Owner Julian Monterosso said in a statement. “We couldn’t ask for a better owner-operator team for this transaction.”
With this purchase, OGP now owns and operates 94 Planet Fitness clubs in Michigan, Maryland, Tennessee, Florida, Washington State, California and the District of Columbia. The franchise group expects to open six more locations by the end of the year.
